Volunteer Programme

Our Volunteering Programme is committed to maximising the independence of the people we support within the community.

This enables them to develop new skills, make new friends, fulfil their potential by creating new opportunities and helps to increase their self-confidence.

We have a number of volunteering opportunities available, a brief explanation of each is given below:

Activity Group Based
Tthe volunteering takes place in various centres within the community, it involves carrying out activities such as arts and crafts, chatting and playing bingo, all under the guidance of our staff. It's an ideal role for people who enjoy a team environment.

One-to-one Befriender
The volunteering involves taking a supported person to activities within the community such as shopping, going for meals, going to the cinema and swimming. The types of activities are dependent on the interests of both yourself and the person you will be matched with.

Allotment Volunteering
Our aim is to create a multi-sensory garden along with flower beds to encourage the bees and butterflies, raised beds for wheelchair users to access, water features, growing our own fruit and also keeping therapeutic animals such as chickens and rabbits. An ideal opportunity for those who love being outdoors and nurturing plants, animals and people. Also great for people with woodwork and general maintenance skills and the ability to build items, such as raised flower beds.

STAR C.I.C Volunteer
This is our 'community interest company' and its aim is to make a difference to the lives of vulnerable adults in our community through establishing working opportunities which provide a sustainable revenue, and creates a self-sufficient means of funding an enterprise with social and culturally aware outcomes at its heart. Volunteering here can offer a wide range of opportunities to people with a caring and helpful nature. We are also looking for people with receptionist and/or customer service skills to help the people we support fulfil their potential.
